Minutes of Board Meeting (Revised)

Carson Bridge Club

 

Present:  Gary Nitzberg, Paul Jorgensen, Cheryl Kinder, and Nick Pchelkin

 

Absent:  John and Carole Sill, Paul Pugsley

 

President Gary Nitzberg called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.

 

Minutes:  The minutes from the September Unit Board meeting were approved.

 

Financial Report:  Due to the absence of the Treasurer, no financial report was presented.

 

Old Business:

 

John is still working on filing the 990 form on-line.

 

The Sectional attendance was up 18 tables over 2008.  Financials for the Sectional will not be available until our Dec. meeting.  There were few problems/complaints, but Paul P will handle those that did occur.    It was suggested that the fliers for the 2010 Sectional be ready in time to be distributed at the Nationals in Reno.  The Plaza has agreed to the same room price ($1600 for 4 days) plus $300 for coffee, tea and water.  The snack offered during the Sunday team game was discussed but any decision was tabled until after the new Board meets in January.

 

New Business:

 

Gary presented the nominees for the three vacancies to be filled on the Unit Board for 2010.  They are:  Bob Garret, Bev Meyer, Donna McLeod and John Sill. Ballots will be distributed at the Unit game on Nov. 8.  Add’l ballots will be given to the 4 clubs in the Unit to be made available during any games they may hold.  The ballots need to be returned to the Carson Bridge Center no later than Dec. 5.  Results will be announced at the Christmas Unit Game on Dec. 13 to be held at the Gardnerville Senior Center.

 

Leona Pchelkin and Gladys Turissini will coordinate the food for the Christmas Unit game.  Gary suggested that (on a volunteer basis only) everyone who attends bring a photo of himself or herself when they were younger (between 16-40 years of age).  A contest will be held to see who can correctly identify the photos.

 

Both Gary and Bob Garret are willing to attend the 3 regional meetings for District 21.

 

A Unit National Pairs Qualifying game will be held Sat., Nov. 14, at the Carson Bridge Center.  A minimum of 5 tables is needed in order for qualifying game to be held. 

 

MSC that the meeting be adjourned at 5:10 p.m.

 

The next Unit Board meeting will be held Dec. 12, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at the Carson bridge Center.
